5th of February 2002AD

My conflicting thoughts, like a socerer's apprentice just do not know when enough is enough.. it goes on.. and on.. and on... in all eternity....

Mickey Mouse has a saviour in dear old Socerer himself, a personification of the full stop which marks the END. I just can't seem to be able to control the waltzing thinkings through my brains, and just put a period at the end. Life changes have been coming fast and furious, a very exciting time in my life really... let me narrate!

Ask any marketer about the birth of advocacy advertising and they'll point to a solemn depiction of a young boy staring at the ceiling while lying down on a train sleepng berth-- with a lachrymose tear mark near his cheek-- this was the advertisement called the 'boy on upper 4' ; selling the Boston train service. My dear brother will be entering army in a few days time...(let me put aside my unpersonal-personal style of writing for a minute)... it will be probably appropriate to write something similar to the verses in 'the boy in upper 4' for him:

'The kid in Tekong Ferry'

It is 11:30am on the ferry service.

Sergeants in green are watching,

Eager boys in civillian will be thrusted upon the Duty of defending Motherland.

This is not an ordinary ferry trip. It may be the last of their innocence and juvenile enthusiasm... till the end of their National Service.

Tomorrow, come cruel tomorrow, they will be wearing the proud green.

A boy is afraid... listening... staring into the open seas of Changi

The boy is my brother

Today he knows.

He will be leaving behind --a lot of small things, and big ones.

The joy of playing billiards, the taste of char kway teow at High Street... the feel of riding a bike at 60kmph... perhaps an elder brother here too...

The pretty girl who smses so often... that grey lecturer in ITE, so proud and wise... the father who sent him to Changi terminal... and the brother who writes for him...

Now he's thinking them all over.

A lump formed in his throat-- a tear rolled. It doesn't matter kid. Nobody will see.

Nobody will care ...

But somewhere, there are people waiting for you to return in the proud green of our country's Bravest...

He'll soon come, this brave boy

With a new formed hatred, bitterness and curses beneath his breath... all sung to the name of SAF.

****************************************

Dunno whether the above is a poetic form or a prose. Anyway before I digress, there are other changes too.

I was quite caustic to the fairer sex a few weeks back, I'm offering an olive branch here... met a few ppl who changed my notions that girls are evil (with effect from today GROSS [Get Rid Of Slimy girlS] shall cease to exist and I'll be relinquishing my post to Reddy Teo, the second in command). 1st of these girls is my friend's gf... the way she hung on to him and offered unconditional care despite some rather uncilvilised treatment from my friend made me change my mindset, that it's not only the females who are the culprits and villains. The 2nd person (or group rather) is/are the many funny duckies in my accountancy project groups who debunked my idea of girls being leeches filled with 'lala' thought! U girls deserve a pat on the back for a project well done!

3rdly to Ellen Tan of my JC class... the most even tempered girl with probably the sweetest nature on Earth, thanks for the advices and talks during the dark days in NUS (u should be a psychologist, wait a sec... u are reading psychology aint u?). Speaking of NUS... there's this 4th girl who's in NUS, and whom I still contact ... I do not wanna give anything away abt her here. We share a very important day on the calendar together, that's all I can say. Her thinkings! I can just drown in joy sharing what goes on in her mind... the harmony of how similar we share our views is simply refreshing esp. when it comes from a 19 year old girl... well, hope to see u on 26th Feb! Let the socerer's apprentice of my thoughts continue flowing and flowing... especially when there's another apprentice ard! =) (NB: I'm mentioning the girls above to give the due credit the fairer sex deserves, and it does not mean I am interested in them... so no stupid rumours please)
